February 10, 2006, Newsletter Issue #3: What is Fibromyalgia?

Tip of the Week

Fibromyalgia syndrome is a musculoskeletal pain and fatigue disorder. Symptoms include intense, widespread pain for at least three months in at least 11 ‘trigger points’. There are no specific tests used to diagnosis fibromyalgia, and is generally diagnosed only when a variety of other conditions are ruled out by tests. There is no known cause, although many believe that chronic fatigue syndrome and fibromyalgia are variations of the same condition. While there is no known cure for fibromyalgia, studies have shown that colostrum, which supports the immune system, may be beneficial for those suffering from this disorder.
