October 27, 2006, Newsletter Issue #37: Why bovine colostrum

Tip of the Week

Colostrum cannot be harvested from humans. Fortunately, cattle produce more then what is needed for their offspring. After their offspring have had enough, bovine colostrum is collected and carefully processed for use in supplements. Bovine colostrum has an increased level of certain antibodies and immune factors then one would find in human colostrum, and is compatible with the human system. The use of bovine colostrum has a long history. It has been used for centuries in India by Ayurvedic physicians, and it was used in the US prior to penicillin.
