A leaky gut can be caused by a variety of things, including overuse of antibiotics, overuse of pain medication, prescription hormones, and an overgrowth of bad bacteria in the body. Certain triggers can worsen a leaky gut, such as sugars, caffeine and alcohol. A candida yeast overgrowth can be a cause of a leaky gut.
